Following an exciting few years for The Pied Bull, the city centre business is now delighted to win the CH1 Chester BID Customer Service Award for Best Hotel/B&B of 2019! The team behind the success are now celebrating being named amongst the top service providers in the city of Chester following the ceremony held at Chester Town Hall on 22nd October.
Dating back to 1155 and known as the oldest coaching inn in Chester, The Pied Bull is fully independent and has seen considerable investment over the past few years. From 2014, all rooms have been completely refurbished, together with the purchase of King Street Cottages and Northgate Street’s Folliott House, seeing the number of hotel rooms increase from 13 to 31.
With Chester Cathedral, the Town Hall and Storyhouse Theatre on the doorstep, the hotel enjoys a prime location and is also home to the only microbrewery within the city walls. Tours of the cellar housing the brewery are held every week by The Pied Bull’s brewer, and the real ales can be sampled at the bar above. To compliment the unique real ales, Head Chef Melchor Obongen has recently introduced the winter menu celebrating the best of British food – simple, honest and all made from scratch! With plans now in place for the Northgate Development, it is exciting times ahead for both The Pied Bull and its neighbours in the city.
